Christchurch SH75 Halswell Road Upgrade Completed Early with Improved Transport Options

Major improvements on State Highway 75/Halswell Road in Christchurch, including bus lanes, cycle paths, and upgraded intersections, have been completed months ahead of the original October 2026 schedule, enhancing transport options, safety, and supporting housing growth. The NZ Transport Agency collaborated with Christchurch City Council to extend public transport improvements, as part of a broader $150 million South Island roading resilience package and other key infrastructure projects underway in the region. The project, costing between $60-70 million, involved extensive construction work and materials, significantly reducing disruption time and improving connectivity for the rapidly growing southwest area of Christchurch.
