New 28-Bed Modular Inpatient Unit Begins Construction at Hawke’s Bay Hospital

The first modules for a new 28-bed rapid-build inpatient unit at Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital have been installed as part of the Government’s fast-tracked hospital wards programme, which will add 140 beds nationwide. This modular construction approach enables faster delivery with less disruption, supporting short-stay surgical patients and improving patient flow to relieve pressure on the hospital. The new ward aims to enhance timely care access, modernize infrastructure, and meet both immediate and long-term healthcare needs for New Zealand’s growing population.
