These changes aim to prevent significant cost increases for Kiwis, estimated to avoid $264 million in net charges, while a full review of the Standard is underway with recommendations due by June 2026. The amendment, expected to take effect on January 1, 2026, will also protect credits from expiring before the end of 2028, supporting the local automobile industry and maintaining consumer choice.
