New Zealand to Introduce In-Person Citizenship Test by 2027 with Aspeq Limited

Minister of Internal Affairs Brooke van Velden announced that Aspeq Limited has been chosen to design and deliver the in-person citizenship test starting in late 2027 as part of New Zealand’s citizenship by grant process. The test aims to ensure applicants understand the rights, responsibilities, and shared values of New Zealand citizenship before being granted citizenship. Aspeq will collaborate with the Department of Internal Affairs to provide a secure, consistent, and accessible testing service nationwide, while applicants must still meet all existing eligibility criteria.
